Phosphatidylserine (PS) has been shown to improve memory and neural function
Two health claims of PS were recognized on February 24, 2003, by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA):
1.PS may reduce the risk of cognitive dysfunction in the elderly.
Brain tissues are especially rich in PS
Aging causes a decline in the PS content of cells throughout the body. Research has shown that, in addition to improving neural function, PS enhances energy metabolism in all cells.
In the brain, PS helps maintain cell membrane integrity and youthful synaptic plasticity (protecting brain cells against age-related deterioration). One study indicated 800 mg of PS per day dramatically reduced cortisol (a harmful stress hormone) levels in athletes and improved their immune system.
