New Spirit Naturals' Mega-Pro® contains
the concentrated Oligomeric
Proanthocyanidins (also known as OPC)
discovered, proven, patented and endorsed
by French Professor Jack Masquelier. His
startling research proving the ultra-powerful
free radical scavenging effects of OPC won
him a U.S. Patent in 1987.
(U.S. Patent 4,698,360).
Free radicals are molecules that carry an unmatched
electron with a strong impulse to attract another
electron from a neighboring molecule. By snatching
an electron, it can set off a chain reaction that wreaks
widespread havoc on cells, eating away at their
membranes and damaging their genetic material.
It is these free radical molecules, which crop up with
every breath we take, that are implicated in some 60
age-related afflictions, including arthritis, cancer,
heart disease and lung disease.
The body has an elaborate mechanism for controlling
this corrosive process known as oxidation. It often
fails to work effectively due to the countless stresses
from smoking, alcohol consumption, environmental
pollutants from chemicals and automobiles, excessive
drugs and even aging itself, all of which accelerate
oxidative damage.
This is where Antioxidants enter the picture. Biochemists
& Epidemiologists have learned that certain
vitamins (such as vitamins A, C & E & beta carotene)
and other food based ingredients such as Oligomeric
Proanthocyanidins have the ability to neutralize free
radicals by binding their lonely electrons and rendering
them harmless.
It was Dr. Masquelier, however, that brought Oligomeric
Proanthocyanidins to the forefront of Antioxidant
Research. His research indicates that these special Proanthocyanidins
(naturally derived from grapes)
are 50 times stronger in their
ability to fight free radicals than
Vitamin E or Selenium and 20
times stronger than regular
Vitamin C. These results do not
suggest that one stop using
Vitamin E, C or Beta
Carotene. These vitamins have
their own uniqueness, capturing
their own set of free radicals.
Rather, it is suggested that they
be used in combination with
Mega-Pro® for the best protection
possible.
Not all Antioxidant
Formulas are the same!
New Spirit Naturals has strived
to insure that our Mega-Pro®
formula is superior!
• Mega-Pro® contains standardized
Antioxidants from
OPC. This standardized
material guarantees that the
OPC are never less than 95%
(the highest concentration
possible under current
technology).
• Mega-Pro®'s OPC are water
soluble. They disperse
rapidly for quick assimilation.
• Mega-Pro®'s OPC are
Hypoallergenic ( A sign of
purity)
• Mega-Pro®'s OPC are mixed in
a citrus base, adding the wellknown
benefits of the
bioflavonoids.
• Mega-Pro®'s ingredients
come from a trusted name in
Natural Life Enhancing
Products - New Spirit Naturals.
• Mega-Pro® is concentrated.
You can take less capsules
than recommended by other
brands (particularly those
containing Pine Bark Extracts),
making Mega-Pro® more
economical.
Recommended usage
One capsule per 150 pounds of
body weight on a regular daily
basis (4 to 8 oz. of pure water is
recommended).
For an intensive free radical
cleansing program (recommended
for chronic conditions),
one can take 5 to 6 capsules per
day for a week to 10 days. Then
resume regular program. Plenty
of pure water needs to be
consumed to insure that toxins
are flushed from the body as
efficiently as possible. |

| The following is a brief summary of some of the research
regarding antioxidants, particularly OPC.
This information is not intended to diagnose or prescribe, but for use in working
with your physician or health care professional. |
Australian Family Physician Magazine, Cataracts,
arthritis, heart disease, Parkenson's Disease & cancer can
be caused by damaging free radicals.
Dr. Richard Passwater, a leading health researcher,
Proanthocyanidins help Vitamin C to do it's job!
A Bulgarian Journal
Proanthocyanidins reduce edema and help stabilize
capillary walls.
Russian Journal
Bronchial Asthma patients have large amounts of lipid
peroxidation, therefore OPC are useful.
American Journal of Medicine
Oxidation of LDL enhances its heart disease causing factor,
therefore raising the possibility that antioxidants which
inhibit the oxidation of LDL could help reduce heart
disease.
European Journal of Clinical Nutrition
High blood antioxidant vitamins are increasingly being
associated with reduced risk of coronary heart disease, the
leading cause of death of women over 60 and men over 40.
Dr. Mathis Rath, a leading expert on Cardiovascular
disease and nutrition discussed the important role of OPC
in his work.
He confirms that OPC work together with Vitamin C in the
defense of free radical damage to the cardiovascular system
and that OPC have a particular value in stabilizing blood
vessel walls, including the capillaries.
OPC are shown to bind to elastin, a major structural
component, second in importance to collagen, and help
protect the elastin from attacking enzymes. As such, OPC
help reduce capillary bleeding and leakage such as edema.
Annals of Rheumatic Diseases
. . . confirms that free radical damage is the cause of tissue
damage in patients with Rheumatoid Arthritis. . . therefore
low antioxidant levels are a risk factor for Rheumatoid
Arthritis.
Russian Journal of Dermatology
Reports that lipid peroxidation causes eczema. . .therefore
the need for OPC to get rid of the oxidation.
New York Academy Annals of Science
Reports that the oxidation of lung tissue can be prevented
by using antioxidants, thereby helping prevent Lung
Disease, even in smokers, when used in high doses.
Clinical Chemistry
Antioxidants have a protective effect and can act as antipromoters
of cancer.
American Journal of Medicine
. . . Antioxidants decrease cancer risk by preventing tissue
damage through trapping free radicals and/or deactivating
excited oxygen molecules.
Environmental Health Prospective
A number of nutritional factors such as antioxidants can act
as anti-carcinogens and inhibit the process of cancer
development and reduce cancer risk.
Diseases of the Colon & Rectum
Antioxidants are touted for the prevention of the recurrence
of colo-rectal cancer. Antioxidants lower the lesion rate.
British Medical Bulletin
Free Radicals may be involved in cancer & cardiovascular
diseases. Studies show poor levels of all antioxidants
associated with increased risk.
Dr. Stewart Brown of the University of Nottingham
His studies show how OPC and antioxidants slow mutagenesis.
Hungarian Journal of Diabetes
Antioxidants can be helpful for diabetics.
American Journal of Clinical Nutrition
. . .revealed that the cataract effect of free radicals can be
stopped by antioxidants. . . these agents (antioxidants) may
be useful for prevention and/or therapy.
Japanese Journal of Cancer & Chemotherapy
Inhibitions of the growth of pancreatic cancer cells was
induced with flavonoids.
Journal of Steroid Biochemistry
Bioflavonoids & related compounds may influence prostatic
function.
Experimental and Molecular Pathology
OPC cut the risk of blood vessel disease.
Russian Medical Archives Journal
There is a decline of antioxidant activity in patients with
Lupus & Rheumatoid Arthritis.
Proceedings of the Society of Experimental Biology &
Medicine
Proanthocyanidins reduce the risk of stroke.
French Medical Journal
OPC may be effective for relieving dementia because they
readily cross the blood brain barrier.
Molecular Pharmacology
. . . Commonly occurring flavonoids (OPC) have estrogenic
activity and may account for the fact that Asian Women
don't suffer from PMS or menopausal symptoms.
